OUR SATORI: News

last two shows of the year! - November 6, 2009

So, we have two more shows this month in November, and are not planning anything until next year.
This coming thursday Nov. 12th we are playing in Santa Cruz at Moe's Alley with local Hammond Organ Trio 7 Come 11.
The Saturday Nov. 21st we are performing an important show in San Francisco. It is a showcase including 6 bands. We were picked out of hundreds of bands by the talent scouts of the record labels that are putting this event on. Warner Bros., Universal, Virgin, etc. The more people come out to this event, the more we will impress the big wigs. If you know anyone who lives in the bay area or close by, or you yourself for that matter... tell them or yourself that OUR SATORI needs your help to get signed to a major label and get them to the next level. We will be so grateful to any help we receive. Please help us out!!!
We love you,
take it one step at a time, and smile!!!!

Love,
Asher

OUR SATORI

New name... new beginnings!! - April 15, 2008

Welcome to our new homepage. What was a band called
ASHER´S SATORI is now called
OUR SATORI!
I am Asher writing this from Argentina where I am taking a break from the busy life I´ve created for myself in Santa Cruz. On May 2nd I will be returning home to get back to it. Last march, Asher´s Satori had a string of weekends where we perfomed in 5 different cities and had excellent feedback. We played most of them as a trio Aaron Glass, Mike Pinette, and myself Asher Stern except for our one show at home at the Catalyst where our friends Gianni Staiano (organ), Bobby Hanson (guitar), and Dustin Hengl (trumpet) jammed with us as well. There was a great bond created for us all that month and part of it was the idea of changing our name. I brought up the idea to the band that changing our name would enhance everthing... allow the music to go in other directions as well as the shows. I didn´t like that it was MY satori.
A little side note on satori:
Satori is a zen buddist term which means awakening to each moment as it comes. It is the MOMENT of awareness... it is right NOW... ALWAYS.
That is what music is for us... re-awakening to each moment as it comes is the most fun and honest way for us to express ourselves musically. It is also something that brings people together for a cause. The cause is always to be HERE AND NOW. Music can take you away from your problems and your sorrows. Even if it is just for the moment that the music is playing, you are HERE AND NOW. Our audience greatly effects our performance in that they are there with us and circling the energy back as we are too. It is something that is shared by everyone for that moment, hence the name...
OUR SATORI

It is you, me, and them. It is all inclusive. So come to our shows, and bring your presence, your energy and leave everything else behind. This is OUR SATORI now!

Peace and blessings,
Asher
